Every year during December, the Weaver Elementary PTA volunteers on one (1) selected Saturday for an entire day. The day is comprised of three (3) shifts running approximately 4 hours each. In return for our efforts, the PTA receives $500. We prefer to have 4-5 volunteers per shift, however, more are welcome. Our volunteers team up with all of the other volunteers also helping that day (including high school sports teams, youth center kids, community volunteers, etc.).
Volunteers will be expected to perform a variety of tasks, including lifting and netting of trees. Although it can be a lot of work (and you WILL get dirty), it is very rewarding...and surprisingly, a TON of fun!
Keep your eyes open for information sometime in November of each school year.
If you sign up for a shift, make sure to wear warm clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. These "Winter" shifts tend to be COLD...and sometimes, rainy. Your feet will most likely get soaked with water from the tree stands. It is recommended to wear some sort of ear covering and gloves. Many of our volunteers wear a thermal top under an overshirt with a pair of jeans and pair of tennis shoes.
